World XV presented with Springbok Opus

This past Saturday, 11th July, saw a rugby World XV team return to Newlands Stadium, Cape Town to face the Springboks for a second consecutive year.

The game which was a comprehensive 46 – 10 victory for the Springboks and saw the return of Springbok captain Jean de Villiers after an eight month absence due to injury.

After the game the returning captain handed World XV promoter Steve Berrick a copy of the Springbok Opus. The Opus was presented on behalf of all the rugby nations who have played a significant role in the extraordinary history of the Springboks. De Villiers was joined in the presentation by Victor Matfield, who had been acting captain during de Villiers absence, and former Springbok Bakkies Botha.
