Opus takes to the skies
Passengers on British Airways are in for a treat this month with all BA planes showing The Making of the Manchester United Opus as part of their unrivalled in-flight entertainment package.
The exclusive behind-the-scenes DVD into the production of the acclaimed Opus was filmed over two years by MUTV, the club’s in-house television channel, and offers a fascinating insight into the inception, production and final presentation of the book.
“The Opus is a stunning work and we often wonder whether people understand just how much blood, sweat and tears went into it,” said editor Justyn Barnes.
“The DVD tells the story behind the Opus from the early stages of the editorial planning, conducting the exclusive interviews and photo shoots and the final phase of pulling everything together.”
“United fans will love the film but it’s also got a wider appeal and hopefully people will enjoy watching it.”
Originally published in November 2006, the Opus is 850 pages long and is strictly restricted to 9,500 copies worldwide. It features never-seen-before archive photographs, exclusive interviews with Old Trafford legends such as Sir Bobby Charlton and Eric Cantona and is written by the finest football journalists in the country, including Jim White, Hugh McIlvanney and James Lawton.
