Helping The Power of Sport Inspire Change With Obex Foundation

We are proud to announce that The Obex Foundation has become one of our two exclusive, official charity partners to Opus for 2023 and beyond.

The Obex Foundation is the charitable arm of Obex, an independent dental group. Established by Obex founder, Sab Bhandal, the charity was established to tackle health inequalities across communities and be an influential force for change in how oral healthcare is viewed and valued.

Very much aligned to the world Opus operates in, as the slogan above suggests, The Obex Foundation supports and delivers exceptional programmes which use the power of sport to engage and inspire people – specifically, in its capacity to show how, through dedication and leadership, people can find ways to succeed.

Whilst The Obex Foundation is set to announce a major 2023 initiative to promote oral health alongside sports and fitness in the UK, in 2022, it successfully launched two innovative community programmes – both already seeing great real results and changes to lives – with a third planned, if fundraising targets can be achieved.

Opus is delighted to be supporting fundraising to help ensure these programmes are sustainable but also to meet The Obex Foundation’s ambition to expand them, these are:

• Obex Schools Programme, which funds exceptional PE lessons in local schools within deprived areas. In partnership with Jason Robinson’s Sport Stars, the weekly lessons also focus on oral health and nutrition.

Fundraising target £160,000

• Funding Dallaglio RugbyWorks to deliver impact programmes which support local young people from diverse backgrounds and communities – specifically those who are disadvantaged by the education system – to learn about the core values of teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and beyond.

Fundraising target £80,000

• Sports Camp (Summer 2023/24) to bridge an important gap for families in local communities, which offers fun, sports-centred activities plus nutritious meals out of school time.

Fundraising target £60,000

As one of our official Charity Partners for 2023 and beyond, Opus will be working closely with The Obex Foundation across a number of fundraising efforts and strategies throughout the year in order to assist Obex with both increased fundraising, and, importantly, helping them raise publicity and awareness of their impactful programmes.
