Exclusive MJ Opus artwork revealed
The final design of The Official Michael Jackson Opus has been revealed by publishers Opus Media Group PLC.
A dynamic ink drawing of the King of Pop in trademark tip-toe dance pose by acclaimed artist Nate Giorgio will adorn the silk-covered clamshell presentation case which contains the leather-bound 400-page Opus.
A good friend of Michael Jackson and collaborator on dozens of personal commissions for the superstar since 1984, Giorgio was delighted to join the Opus team and bring yet another exclusive touch to the only new tribute publication authorised by the legendary singer’s Estate.
“Being close to Michael was great for me as an artist as I got to see a completely different side to him,” recalls Giorgio. “He was more ‘himself’, more down to earth. Every time I saw or read something about Michael that was so far from the truth, something I just couldn’t relate to, it just wasn’t him. They just didn’t know him.
“The figurative style that I use helps me capture more of the essence of Michael in a few strokes, the way he moved and held his body when he was dancing. His power. That’s why it works.”
Inside the Opus
In addition to the beautiful case artwork, Giorgio has also created bespoke images to introduce each of the ten chapters plus a heartfelt artistic tribute to the late, great M.J.
The Official Michael Jackson Opus also features 300 spectacular photos, including many rare and previously unpublished images by some of the world’s foremost photographers, plus the personal remembrances of the people who knew him best and were inspired by his work including Reverend Jesse Jackson, Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Shaquille O’Neal, Paula Abdul, John Landis, Sugar Ray Leonard, Jimmy Jam, Teddy Riley and many more.
